Shashank Garg, ME Shashank Garg is Vice President for Advanced Projects at Encore Software Limited, Bangalore. He was earlier VP in the Mobile Computing Group. He has 30 years of experience in product development, software, and R&D management. Shashank Garg has recently returned to Encore after spending a year on sabbatical leave at Stanford University where he was a Fellow in the Reuters Digital Vision Program, working on a project in Disease Surveillance. During his fellowship stint at Stanford, he also received a scholarship from Motorola (US). Shashank has a PhD in progress where he is studying the role of mobile technologies in e-Governance. Shashank has a Master of Engineering (ME) in Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science [IISc], Bangalore, India and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Sciences (BSc) from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science [BITS], Pilani, India. Shashank received, jointly with the other co-developers of the SIMPUTER, “The Dewang Mehta Award for Innovation in Information Technology” for the Year 2001-2002, the first in a series of prestigious annual national awards instituted by Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India, to encourage product innovation in India. Shashank is a founding member of the Simputer Trust.
